Shalom and welcome to Temple Emanuel! Ours is a warm and welcoming Reform Jewish congregation of 265 families located in Creve Coeur, Missouri. A special feeling embraces all who enter the beautiful Bernoudy-designed sanctuary with its stunning vaulted natural wood ceiling and large stained-glass windows. As you worship with our congregation, you will feel a part of its family, a feeling strengthened by interaction between your fellow congregants and our Rabbi.
Temple Emanuel has historically been -- and remains today -- on the cutting edge, providing open programming and a welcoming religious home for interfaith families. In furtherance of our dedication to serve interfaith families, we host an innovative program, the "Interfaith Family Dialogue Group," which allows spouses in interfaith households to discuss sensitive issues in a caring and understanding environment.
Facilities at Temple Emanuel include a sanctuary designed for an intimate worship service on Shabbat, but expandable to accommodate the entire membership during the High Holy Days. There is a social hall adjacent to the sanctuary for life cycle events and congregational celebrations. The Congregation also boasts an excellent library, serving the regular needs of its members and providing a research tool for those seeking greater Jewish knowledge. Our facility has eighteen classrooms, a youth lounge, art room, playground, and beautifully landscaped grounds including a meditation garden.
Temple Emanuel prides itself on providing a warm and dignified worship experience that elevates the spirit, gladdens the soul, and also challenges the mind and helps it to grow. In order to accomplish this and to meet the needs of our diverse membership, we use several different prayer books-including some original services written by congregants-as well as the standard prayer books used by the Reform movement.
One of our highest priorities is to make Jewish learning and Jewish experiences both gratifying and meaningful. We have an excellent religious school program, which includes the Chai curriculum new to Reform Judaism and used in Grades 1-7. Many opportunities for parent and grandparent involvement are offered through Torah Study partners, interactive multi-generational learning, family Shabbats, and special holiday events and family dinners. Adults in our Congregation may chose from an array of educational and social programs, including supper and study, lunch and learn, and a first-Sunday speaker series led by our Rabbi.
At Temple Emanuel, we pride ourselves on giving back to our community. We have established our own social action programs, including our "Care and Share" program, through which congregants prepare and deliver 200 meals each month for Medicaid participants.
More than anything, and most importantly, we at Temple Emanuel are a small, caring community which encourages all of our members to be involved and to make a difference.
